Polish Sunny School has been running successfully since 2009. Through years we have been helping Polish community in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire through by providing educational opportunities in Polish language and options for integration for polish children and young people, their families and local citizens.

Services:

Polish Sunny School provides educational services for Polish children and young people in Polish language. Our curriculum includes Polish literature, Polish history, geography of Poland and additional subjects.

Our creative art services enable pupils to express themselves through art such as drama, music or dance with its theme focused around polish culture and heritage.

Our events services allow us to introduce our pupils to polish traditions, culture and festivals through several cultural events organized by the charity such as school assemblies or performances. We also organize open events, which empower other people (who are not Polish) to learn more about polish culture and traditions that supports integration between local communities.

All services are open for Polish children who recently moved to Scotland and those ones who were born in UK.

Our aims are:

-    To help children to become bilingual which is a promising skill for their future career. Learning literacy in other language can also have a positive impact on child’s cognitive development. What is more it can have a positive impact on their emotional development as their parents and family who live over in Poland usually can speak only Polish.
-    To teach children about Polish culture, heritage, history and traditions through integration with other children and young people who speak Polish
-    To support children and young people to feel socially included when they first arrive to Scotland where it can be hard for them to socialize with other children in local schools, as they do not know English
-    To reduce isolation of polish families and help them to integrate together through parents meetings and groups
-    To promote diversity through organizing various events, which promotes Polish culture and traditions in Aberdeen
-    To promote Polish culture to broader public by participating in and organizing cultural and social events, which aims to integrate wider communities in Aberdeen
